For me, joining Village Up was an opportunity to collaborate with others in the community that know improving diversity in the startup and tech space is important. There aren’t enough startup spaces where inclusion is considered a core component as many times it is an afterthought or considered after designing programs or events. 

I know having worked with some of the people involved with Village Up that everything they do starts with being inclusive because without that, you can never have a startup ecosystem that reflects the diversity of the community.

Coming to the United States as an international student from Brazil, I quickly realized the importance of diversity, not only in business settings, but also in academic and social circles. Having a diverse team enables the inter-cultural exchange of ideas and brings in new perspectives, which is beneficial for everyone involved.
